Background

The ACICR Library is a special collection of injury prevention and control literature housing over 2000 items including an abundance of gray literature, books, videos, reports, academic journals, newsletters, pamphlets and more. The Library addresses ACICR's goal to provide information, networking and clearinghouse services to injury prevention and control stakeholders in Alberta.

The resource collection includes a section on injury prevention and control theory and practice including evaluation, social marketing, community development, collaboration and strategic planning. It also houses a section on injury-specific topics with information on programs, initiatives, prevention information, data, risk factors and promising practices.

The Library Catalogue is now available online. Upon searching, the catalogue will retrieve all relevant records. You will then be able to make an online reservation request to borrow material.

You are welcome to visit the Library in person, where you are provided with a work/study area and access to a telephone, photocopier and computer.

Searching the catalogue

  • How you can search

By title, author, keyword, resource type, category, or publisher. (Drop-down menus are available for all fields).

  • Narrowing your search

Combine fields to narrow your search. For example, if you select the keyword "adult" AND select the category "Fire", the results screen will list all library resources keyworded "adult" under the category "Fire".

  • To find all resources on a topic

If no information is entered in the publication date section, the results screen will display ALL resources corresponding to the search term(s) selected from the drop-down menus. For example, if you select "older adults" from the keyword field AND "video" from the resource type field, you will see a list of all videos related to older adults.

To find out more about a resource (e.g., ISBN, availability): Click on the title and a more detailed screen will be shown.

To request an item, click on the Request Reservation beside the Resource ID on the detailed resource description. Your request will be answered within one week of receipt.
