Finding Balance making a difference
Finding Balance is an annual month-long campaign that educates and raises awareness among seniors - and future generations of seniors - about the importance of leading healthy and safe lifestyles to prevent falls.
The inaugural campaign was launched in November 2008 and was met with success across the province of Alberta. After its fourth successful year, the campaign continues to gain momentum and support across the province and with other groups outside Alberta.
Alcohol and boating can be deadly
Ahh, boating! Skimming over the water with the wind in your hair. What a great way to spend a summer afternoon, especially with family and friends. A carefree atmosphere like this is just made to have fun and party. However, this partying should never include drinking alcohol. Mixing alcohol and boating can have tragic consequences.
Save the date for the 2012 Provincial Alcohol-Injury Forum
Hazardous alcohol use plays a significant role in a variety of unintentional and intentional injuries in Alberta.
The Provincial Alcohol-Injury Forum will feature research on alcohol use, attitudes and its relationship to injury in Alberta. Additionally, Alberta communities will share their initiatives addressing various alcohol-related injury issues to inform and inspire other communities facing similar issues. Finally, forum delegates will have an opportunity to identify steps to move this health issue forward within the province.
We hope you will join us at the 2012 Provincial Alcohol-Injury Forum on November 8 and 9, 2012 in Edmonton, Alberta.
